Computer Vision vs Sensors Cost

02/01/2013 5:15 PM

I'm working on ideas for some farm machines, and am wondering if I should go with computer vision, sensors, or feeler triggers. Can anyone give me an idea of what the costs would be?

To do what function? Mechanical weed control, thinning, insectacide application, rust spray....

To sort asparagus by color, diameter, flower size, weight, length, and curvature. As seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_Vn1390Cw8

You should determine which type of sensor will survive the farm environment before considering price.

Farms can be pretty dusty, dirty, wet, muddy, weedy, etc.
