It is designed to begin opening at ABOUT 180°.

It is designed to open to a point that the water circulating in the system is maintained at 180°, after the system stabilizes.

Don't worry about the exact temperatures.

To understand how one works, put it in a pan of water and heat it up. You'll see how they work.

Or Google "How an automotive thermostat works".

Never mind:

sir thanks for the advice. in addition, the operation manual of that engine says that the when the coolant temperature reaches 115 degrees celcious the engine will automatically shut down. is it safe to continuously run the engine at temperature slightly lower than 115 deg celcious, say 113 or 110? i have already experience the temperature reaching to 105 deg celcius and i manually shut off the engine because i am afraid something bad will happen.please help..thanks.

This is going nowhere fast. Call a service tech.

Call a service tech. Call a service tech. Call a service tech. Call a service tech.

If the coolant temp. is running at 240F (let's be consistent with our units) the motor will probably fail soon. Call a service tech.

Does the thermostat open? Call a service tech.

Do you understand the relationship between oil temp and water temp??Call a service tech.

With the cooling water at 180°F what is the oil temp????Call a service tech.

sir good day...i have mentiond that i have experienced a temperature reaching 95 deg C. before it only reached 85 deg C. . yesterday i cleaned the radiator both the air side and coolant side. I installed my thermostat spare but the same 95 deg. C is reached. Are the oil cooler and coolant pump related to this problem? I apologize for the bother.

If the radiator cap blows, your engine will suddenly go into ebullient cooling mode. Sorry, you'll just have to look it up.
