Remember there is domain registration and domain hosting which are two separate things. Google "Compare domain registration" and "Compare domain hosting" for best pricing for each. If you find anything free, be suspicious...

There are many hosting companies that can be found by Google searches, asking people, etc. The one that probably advertises the most to the general public is GoDaddy.com. I think that they have options that would allow you to host for about US$100 per year. If you have a lot of traffic then the cost will go up.

Many people have advertising links on their web pages that somehow provide them with financial benefit. I don't know if it is direct pay, pay per click, pay if clicker buys, etc. Your browser probably has some sort of a "view source" capability. Look at the source code of a few web pages. I think you will see links and notes about double click, google and other advertising companies. Hopefully what you see will give you a word(s) to Google.

Carefully think of search terms and start searching. Free might be a tough target but with low cost hosting and possibly advertising income you can probably find something you can work with.

The short answer is yes. You set the DNS to point the A record to your server. You need either a static address for this OR you need to register your .com with a dynamic DNS service which may cost you a little each year and requires software to run on your server that will update the DNS.

http://www.webnode.com/terms-and-conditions/

(i gess their basic idea is what you ask here)

/!\ though in "free" service running (java)scripts is complicated + there are other drawbacks building a "Power-Site" - if you don't need too many interactivity features + you've plenty resource /!\ another drawback is somewhat cofusing file system - basicly if you want to point(link to) your uploded resource you've to fetch a lengthy absolute URL by downloading your resource . . . this is g.d. nut's - as when "time is money" - you probably want to negotiate a bonus pack - and let'em do all dirty work (pay'em some $ monthly)

i can't find good old time host servers where you ftp-d your "active dir" - there you'll've 2 test all features online (enormous waste of time)

what may work in their "free packet is" you keep your website on 1 directory use their "welcome page" to link to "your website" in 1-gle dir in their Files storage area ...

? why such a g.d. fuzz

(though you must have a personal a browsers(indipendent) script lib. e.c. ... to enshure you reach your clients)
