How to Correct Seeing Some Oil in Water in the Free Water Knock Out Vessel?

02/24/2013 7:45 PM

Hello,

Newbie here in the oil and gas industry. We recently installed a 3 phase (no burber system) free water knock out vessel surplus vessel. Fluid IN is oil emulsion. In some instances during operation, we are seeing oil in our water drain. FWKO internals dimensions are already are fixed. What can we do to eliminate oil from going into our water?

Thank you.

Opps, my apology if this is a similar reply. Dont know where my earlier

draft went?

Anyway, Thanks.Ours is Model C. But the internals of the FWKO were already fixed.

Looks like our oil volume is lower and tends to drift with into the water drain\outlet instead of flowing over to the oil outlet. We are exploring instrumentation and controls to address this. Your thougts?

Slow down the incoming flow, and thereby allow more residence time in the new vessel so as to allow better separation.
