Sheetmetal Mike

03/02/2013 8:59 AM

I had a drive way poured a couple years ago then built a cover over this to keep the truck out of the weather. The problem that I am having is they put a smooth finish on this concrete slab(should have made them rip it out and (re do the whole drive).

This is so slick when it gets any moisture on it that someday someone is going to fall down. Is there a product that I can apply to this concrete that will last,or some kind of etching to take the smoothness away? What can I do to this concrete?

There various options. One is an exterior grade anti-skid paint. You can buy it from Home Depot:

It's a good idea to seal the concrete.... Concrete sealer is available at the local Lowes or Home Depot....Just add the grit they sell for just this purpose...or you can just etch the concrete....I personally would etch it first then use a stain sealer with grit...

You will have to roughen the surface before applying any non-skid product anyway, so you could just rent a floor grinder, and skip putting on the coating.

you could have it scarified. in thisprocess small steel "shot" is shot at high pressur at the surface of the concrete.
