Booze For Brains

03/10/2013 11:03 AM

Have a drink or three; seems in some ways, it helps.

I feel better about having a couple of red beers for breakfast.

Much to my shame, I had to look up 'red beer'.

I'd suggest mashing wine with All Bran so you also get roughage. Fruit in the wine counts as a bit of '5 a day'. What's not to like. I've thrived on it for many years

We must do lunch someday .

Stangely enough, exactly the same happened to me. It may have been the previous experiment that motning using vodka and Wheetabix, or possibly the Absinthe smoothie I washed it down with .

I read an article once on absinthe...was all the rage at a time long ago. I decided to further my vast knowledge on the topic of drinking so I hunted some down. I carefully followed all the preparation instructions and poured myself a large glass (if you're going, go big!) It was odd but not bad....until I hurled! never touched the crap again

The trick when hurling is to clenth the teeth - you don't want to risk losing any nutricious chunks that might come up.

Yes, the sugercube acts as the necessary filter and incorrectly filtering the absinthe will make you very ill (as is drinking too much).

On a side note, a friend's friend is the New Zealand agent for a brand of absinthe. The bottle is shaped like a glass skull and I swear in the right light it glows.

Also, don't do what we did and forget the sugercube holder and instead get a new wooden spoon out of the kitchen, break it in half and then proceeded to drill holes in it ON the kitchen bench with a cordless drill. This was BEFORE we started drinking.

Jack - By we I mean them - I was the designated driver that night (thankfully).

It's kind of a poor man's Bloody Mary. A good use for cheap beer. I like them spicy.

Bloody Mary's are good too, but that sudden boost in brain power, tends to turn the rest of the day to sh*t.

Have things changed around here? Things look different recently. I know I don't frequent here, time based. Not a lot of free time past few years. Things look different and atmosphere seems a bit changed. Maybe I been away too long.

By the way, hows the car? You get it back to racing again? I spent more time with straight 6.3 runs when I was younger. Haven't out raced a state trooper since 1973 in my Mach 1, out ran 3 that year. Country roads brought me home with no baggage.

They were paved. Never had a ticket and I am dam near 60! What are the chances?

Hi,

Things changed. We have new owners now. They like blue. I haven't noticed any other changes, myself.

The 7 car?

I don't fix 'em, I just drive 'em.

Only the right side sheet metal, rear deck lid and wing, wheel/tire and a few front suspension parts were needed to put it back on the track. Cost me a ton.

I drove the 60 car since then and stayed off the wall.

Cheers.

Hi Lyn,

So you are still driving. Left hand turns or do you mix it up? So I take it the Old #7 is yours. Do you race just locally in your area, or travel also?

I'm tired of alcohol getting a bad rap.

Not only has it made me a genius, but if I ply the wife with enough wine, I also become very good looking and, (occasionally), desirable.

This is going to work out perfectly!!!

Tell the wife that heavy drinking will make her smarter, and as a bonus, I become sexy.

The tapping energy, I think there is something to it and has been known for ages. There is a tribe in Mexico or in that region that runs all day and everywhere they go, they have records of running about 400 miles non-stop, they run barefoot or with sandals. Before they start on their run they drink and alcoholic drink like a mild cactus beer or something like that.

With that much heat and physical exertion the alcohol is going to have little to no effect on the person. Perhaps the drink has other qualities.

There could be. I learned about it watching the Discovery Channel I think it was but they would tank up on this mild beer before setting out.

Another thing they talked about is that our shoes have a lot to why we can't run as far, it causes us to place our weight unnaturally on our feet while running. That Humans were designed to run. We just don't anymore because we've created an environment where we don't have too.

Whenever I hear statistics like "50% of vehicle fatalities are caused by drunk drivers", Does this mean that the other 50% are caused by sober drivers? If so, what is done about them? There should be a MASD (Mothers against Sober Drivers).

No, the other 50% is made up of distractions, weather conditions, mechanical failure, manipulating the statistics to get the result you want to support whatever point you personally want to make, etc.
