03/22/2013 1:51 AM

Dear all,

I am planning to buy a motherboard for general and gaming purpose. Games like Farcry3, Crysis 3 etc

I have used Intel DP35DP with Nvidia graphic cards EVGS GTX550Ti in past . But now I want to use Asus motherboard instead of Intel. Can you please suggest me that which mother board is best?. Some people told me to get Asus

Thanks

Get both and try both. There is absolutely no other way to know.

The motherboard won't impact your ability to produce high-complexity content nearly as much as a solid CPU or GPU and SSD will; that said, a high-end board will give you better overclocking ability, which can directly influence the speed with which any compiling or encoding you perform is completed. You should spend some time checking combinations....I have a recommendation from a few months ago...A good performing combo...

K-SKU I7 3770K and a gtx 660ti ASRock Z77 Pro4 LGA1155 board.

I would check out some of the articles here....

You might find Tom's Hardware very useful, 2013 gaming board review.

I suggest you google mother board forum reviews and input your preferences.

As us , Gigabyte, are respected manufacturers, your problem is defining what you want and what price range.

As the specifications are various you will have to do some studying.

At least I would recommend a board with USB 3 this will give you something which will update for the next 6 years or more.

Having spent far too many hours in the gaming world, and provided countless hours of realtime tech support and years as an admin on a Battlefield 1942 server I can tell you that brand of product is a poor measure of performance or quality. First determine the features you require. Then research the current "state of the art" CPUs, Chipsets, ram speeds and video GPUs. Now establish your price limit since you can really get into some high prices with the latest hardware. Go to a store like Newegg.com and begin doing comparison shopping using the established criteria. Remember that ram speed is not nearly as important as CPU clock speed since ram is rarely the bottleneck in the process. And just because you have a quad core CPU at 1.7Ghz does not mean it will game better than dual core at 3.4Ghz. In fact the opposite is nearly always the case. Intel chips do provide greater performance clock/clock speed due to better architecture and implementation and for several years have been the choice for serious gamers. My big issue with all computer parts now is the terrible quality control from all manufacturers. I was a Gigabyte fan for a long time. Then I got 3 bad high-end boards in a row. I am now an MSI user and am quite happy with the last 10 builds. Asus boards are also OK but be sure that you get what you want. There have been issues with SSD incompatibility in recent years for example. And that might really be something you want to upgrade to in the near future. USB3 and SATA3 are also something to hold out for. Be sure and read all the PCI Express data as well. Having a top of the line video card that uses PCI express 3.0 running on a PCI express 2.0 board is a terrible hit in graphics performance and a waste of your money. Also, as you may need multiple PCI express slots please note that many boards drop from the X16 spec, to X8 (or less) when a second card is used. And this might not be another video card in SLI, but it might be an SSD drive. And that would be another terrible performance hit. Intel makes nearly all the northbridge and southbridge chipsets on the gaming boards regardless of the manufacturer and as I already stated, the best CPUs at this time. Read all reviews with a grain of salt and be sure all your hardware is compatibile before selecting the motherboard. If you need any help with your specific setup, I will be happy to share my thoughts and opinions. Because of my health, I can no longer game but I still try to serve in the gaming community when I can. Good Luck
