CR4 is Being Flooded with New, Machine-generated 'Members'

Most of them contain commercials/spam of one type or another.

Doesn't look like we'll get any intelligent questions out of this group, either.

Well, one can always hope they'll try to sell us Real Over-Unity Machines instead of on just the idea! :)

I have seen these and there's nothing I can do about them until Monday. I don't have the level of access necessary to take care of that many and to do so manually would take me until Monday.

In the past these users have tended not to post, only register. If you see any spam posts then please click the Report button so a moderator (that's me) can take care of them.

It appears to be mostly spammers.

The odds are if admin is made aware of this they may do a bit of house cleaning or improve the registration system to make automated registration harder.

One thing that works rather well is the having to confirm yourself through a valid email link and code system first before you can actually register.

This, too, can be easily automated, unfortunately. I suggested in a PM to Savvy that possibly the site's webmaster might add a 'Capsha' image recognition facility to the registration page. It's not foolproof of course (nothing is, really), but it would certainly raise the bar as far as bots go. As it stands with the current registration page, what is happening right now could easily be implemented by any number of relatively unsophisticated means.
