Mobile Access Problems

03/24/2013 7:57 PM

For the past couple of weeks or so - since what I believe was the last bit of CR4 "updating" - I've had problems. Sometimes - on some platforms - I can't post smilies or special characters (seems OK now, Win7 starter on Acer netbook).

My big problem is that I can't access CR4 from my Android mobile (Samsung Galaxy SII, ICS). It doesn't time out - it seems to connect OK, but I just get a plain white window. No content at all - either accessing CR4 home or pm system.

Very frustrating - I've had no trouble for the past 18 months, but now it's useless. Any ideas?

Have you tried one of the alternate free browsers?

Opera, SkyFire, etc?

Opera, Firefox, Chrome and the unnamed thing that came with the 'phone. Same problem with all.

Chrome and Firefox I think are pretty close, and I believe Opera is also a similar build.

You might look among the free browsers that allow you to emulate a desktop.

SkyFire allows the option of presenting yourself as a desktop to websites. Note, Skyfire is not Firefox. I think there is a free version, however it is the one and only piece of add on software I have paid for... it was a couple bucks. I'm not at all disappointed, as that one feature alone is very convenient.

Of course if you can't verify with a trial version that there are benefits, then I wouldn't recommend switching to alleviate your problem...as it might not.

Worth a try - thanks.

No sign of any option to behave like a desk-top. I got version 5.0 of the browser, which is all Google Play Store offered me.

On mine, selecting the icon in the upper right hand corner that looks like a downward pointed triangle in a circle...

opens a drop down menu...

'Settings' is about halfway down...

Selecting 'Settings' opens a black menu....

that displays 'Browser Settings' about mid screen....

That selection, opens a menu with 'Load page as' about half screen.

'Load page as' should allow you to select between desktop and browser.....until recently I could even access Hulu as if I were on a desktop, and I understand they are typically pretty strict.

.

My version is a little older and I don't update since some great features are grandfathered in.

.

.

I hope I haven't wasted your time with this download... it really would be a shame if this option has changed on skyfire.

My 'Settings' menu has General/Privacy & security/Accessibility/Advanced/Bandwidth management/Labs. Sadly, none of the sub-menus includes 'Load page as'.

You were definitely thinking along the right lines - I saw Savvy's note in the Announcement - grabbed my Galaxy, opened Chrome, checked the "request desktop site" box and got straight in.

Yaaay! (and thanks, both to you and Savvy).

It is interesting that it just happened, I'm monitoring this and the other thread........ but it seems that the bug to have been generated from an update....... but thats a guess.

Whats the term......... don't fix something if its not broke? ;)

There is a known bug with accessing CR4 on mobile devices. Someone will be looking into that just as soon as they have time.

A hard refresh (CTRL + R) will fix the issue with emoticons and symbols.
