AutoCAD Dimesion overrides.

05/29/2007 12:17 PM

I am using AutoCAD Architectural Desktop 2000i. Some how, there is now an override that completely changes my dim styles. I have deleted it every way that I know how, but after every save it's back. It's driving me insane! Can someone give me a simple explanation as to why this has happened and how to permanently delete it.

Thank you

Hey Out,

I'm not sure how that happens in your particular case, but....

It is a pet peeve of mine when someone changes something in the dimstyles via the command line.

That will create a <style overrides>

For instance: say you have a dimstyle and only one dimstyle called Standard, and it is perfect in your eyes.

Some one comes along, opens the drawing and types dimscale and changes the number.

Now when you type ddim or go to the Dimension Styles dialogue box, there is that bastard <style overrides>.

My solution is to:

1. Only change a dim style through the dialoge box.

2. Set the current dimstyle to Standard. (this will pop up a window tha will tell you that doing this will discard style overrides...fine, DO IT)

3. Purge for good measure.

This works in my case, hope it wiorks for you.
