Design Pressure for API 650 Storage Tank

04/18/2013 7:01 AM

Dear sir,
In API standard 650, the design pressure for storage tank is given by,
Pressure (kPa) = 1.1 * A * Tan( roof angle ) / D^2 + 0.08 * t
Where, A - Area resisting compressive forces mm2.Roof angle - angle between roof & horizontal plane.degreeD - Tank Diameter,mt - Nominal roof thickness, mm
In this formula, What is area resisting compressive forces ?
Thanks
