Substation Insulated Floor Mat

04/26/2013 10:22 PM

Sirs,

If my substation & switchboard is 33kV rated, what class & type of floor mat should I use with reflect to IEC 61111. I'm a bit confuse on nominal max working voltage definitions.

Working voltage is refers to phase-phase as working/rated voltage(33kv) or phase to ground (19kV) only (during any faults).

Appreciate any advice.

What is your confusion? Do you need a copy of IEC 61111?

Here is the difference:

1. If I consider Phase-phase Volt (33kV), I need to select Class 4 Rubber Floor Mat since the max working voltage is 36kV

2. If I consider Ground-Phase Volt (19kV), then I can select Class3 Rubber Floor Mat since the max working voltage is 26.5kV

If you can send the copy of IEC61111 is a pleasure to receive it. Thanks.

"Line Voltage" in column 3 = phase-to-phase, not phase-to-ground. Thus Muditmah is correct (GA).

If you need a rubber mat you're in serious trouble and the chances of survival with 33KV is minimal.

This is a safety and statutory requirement. Nobody is going to touch 33 kV live part deliberately while standing on the rubber mat!

How is your system earthed?

Let's hope it isn't via high-resistance earthing through the rubber mat.
