Checks for Vacumn Circuit Breakers

05/07/2013 11:57 AM

Dear all,

Kindly suggest if their are certain checks to determine the correct operation of Vacumn Circuit breakers , installed on 11kv and rated at 2500 A.

Or their best maintenance practices...

Your support will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Rooney

What does the maker of said breakers say regarding operation and maintenance of their equipment?

There must be hundreds of sites on the web with general O&M guidelines.

Do a search for "operation and Maintenance of Vacuum circuit breakers" and let us know what you find.

That'll save us from having to do your legwork.

Good Luck.

Yes there are, but you haven't even told us the make and model number. If this piece of equipment is new to you or your client, then the only source to be trusted is the original equipment manufacturer's literature/tech support team.

Not all VCB's (Vacuum Circuit Breakers) are the same, there are even differences within one manufacturer's product line. Performing the checks in the wrong sequence by untrained personnel without the proper instructions/training is a formula for, at a minimum, equipment damage, and at a maximum, loss of life. Get the proper documentation/training, your client will thank you.

Our "friend" works "with an agency that carries out the Energy Audits of various facilities and industries." Quote from: Energy Audit of Hotels All his posts are like this.

So, he's getting paid for reaping the benefits of the collective knowledge of the forum.

Something about that bothers me, since the questions aren't of a person well versed in the trade, but rather someone who is fishing for answers to specific questions they should already know.

Unfortunately the people who pay him probably don't know this, yet. They assume he's competent. Oh, MY!

Thanks for the heads-up, yet another poster to put on ignore. I'm glad I always read the off-topic posts, you never know when a nugget like this might come along.
