Needle Valve or 2-Way Manifold

05/08/2013 7:48 PM

Hi All,

What is preferred for pressure gauges a needle valve or a 2-way manifold? Is a manifold an over kill for a pressure gauge which in my case, is an accessory to a Pressure Transmitter measuring the same pressure?

Both will isolate the pressure instrument. But gauge valves include multi-port and block and bleed styles suitable for calibration and venting. Does the installation warrant cal checks or venting?

They will require calibration at times.

Then the question is: do they need to be removed for calibration or is the procedure to be carried out in-situ? The answer determines the configuration of valves, manifolds, etc., that will be needed to accomplish the act.

Use a trumpet (manifold) valve.
