05/11/2013 10:15 AM

Hi

I want to know about the numbering system of electrical contactor e.g 95,96 and all other auxillary contacts. Please advise from where can I get all the information regarding the wiring of motor contactors.

Thanks

Try Google.

Try contactor manufacturers.

Try the library.

Ask your mother for help.

If you are referring to North American terminal numbers, we don't really care, other than the L1,2,3 and T1,2,3 etc.

But everywhere else in the world, there is a more complex numbering system that follows a set of IEC standards, EN50005 or EN50012. 50012 is also identical to British Standard BS 5582. But because North American mfrs want to sell everywhere now, the IEC numbering system is emblazoned on NEMA contacts as well, even though we tend to not use that numbering system in our drawings. But for whatever reason, 95/96 has caught on here for the Over Load aux contacts, probably because we never used to have any numbering and some engineers liked the idea.

These standards are copyrighted materials so you cannot download them for free (legally), you must purchase them. However, most IEC component mfrs will show pertinent excerpts from them in thir catalogs. Siemens does for sure.

These are very clearly given in the Appendix of IEC 60947-Part 2 & in Part 4.
