Earthing During Welding

We all know that it is not good fabrication practice to provide loose or direct earthing to job. please suggest any alternative method to provide eathing during welding.

Yep.

  • One could weld metals using gas burner jets instead, or
  • ultrasound, which is especially useful for plastics and for joining dissimilar materials, as is
  • solvent-weld, or
  • explosives.
  • Forge-welding using hammers is another method. Blacksmiths used to make swords that way and some probably still do.
  • Flame-spray welding is a good method of building up metal on worn parts, particularly those that can be rotated.
  • Thermit-welding is a great way of joining railway rails together in the field.

None of the above methods needs electrical contact with the work. Each has its application according to context, which is missing from the original post.

Giving all the pertinent information in the original post ensures a quicker response from the forum with solutions and avoids the forum having to play "20 Questions" to elicit that information, with accompanying frustration/boredom/annoyance setting in, to the original poster's loss.

Provide a ground lug near the welding process.

Translation: weld a ground lug to the job, and then use that lug to attach the earth wire to complete the rest of the welding process.

Which polarity(+ve/-ve) should we earth when welding stainless steel,mild steel etc by using AC and Dc welding machine.
