Aged oil designation

Can anyone help or re-direct to current equivalent of an Electric Motor bearing oil where a plate fixed to the bearing reads: - "LUBRICATION OIL TO BS 489-1955 MED"

Try contacting the British Standards institute. Im sure they will have a contact number on their website

Does your local university have a reference library? if so, they may have a full set of British standards.
