Help with Broken Wiring

05/24/2013 3:44 PM

Hi People

Can someone please help me with a little problem. A student has a "veho VSS-009-360 BT" pocket sized bluetooth speaker and amp. Sadly his mate broke the wiring and I am happy to fix it rather than bin it. They are not cheap and the sound output is incredible for such a small device. However I need some help putting the correct wires back on the correct terminals. At best someone who can take the back off and post a pic of one would be great or help with chasing down the wires. e.g. what is vmcu etc. I am reasonably competent with electronics but just need some advice if possible. I may end up writing to the makers if I get no joy or pulling it apart further to trace things back. There is a lithium cell in there so I must be cautious.

I don't have one but that is a good request. I fear that if there are few or no postings today then the CR4 computers will drop your thread off the front page and put you at risk of not getting a reply. If that happens try reposting Tuesday morning. A Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend is not the best time to get a response.

Good luck

Hi all

Cracked the problem today by stripping it down further. turns out there is a second pcb at the other end and it is labelled with the same connection details so it was a simple but tricky job of soldering in longer wires and reconnecting. Not pretty but its all tucked up inside and the unit works well including bluetooth connection so you can play music wirelessly. Glue gunned over the solder points to prevent snapping. Thanks for listening and I hope someone else can use the details. Never throw anything away unless you really have trashed it first.

dear PJ.

it seems the wires are connecting the keys to PCB .kindly perform the below.

1-take a deep look at the wire end and the PCB the broken wires end and the strands

shape , will tell you from where it belongs.

2-all wires are command (v+) so you can try the same color of wires to LED (and interchange them if required . do the same with wire of key and reset .

this suggestion is only in case of unavailability of circuit diagram and if there are no marks on keypad or control PCB .

i hope it will help.

regards

Thanks sohail

I am assuming the battery on the pcb recharges via the usb on the other end so I may be able to suss out the power leads first but would prefer a pic of one to give me a clue.

If in drawings colours of every wire as well as the destination(terminal, component) are marked there won't be any problem
