The site in question is probably a multi-story commercial and industrial complex with an attached warehouse, not a single story 3 bedroom house.

This information may be in the applicable building standard for your country and site.

Alternatively try the smoke detector manufacturer's website or perhaps the local/state/country fire department (or similar) website.

Standard commercial smoke detectors (Photoelectric and Ionization types) cover 900 square feet.

They must , however be de-rated under certain conditions.

Also, understand that a Beam Detector is a smoke detector, and the above coverage does not apply.
