What are the disadvantages is using fibre glass as a replacement of steel in reinforcement.

Reinforcement for what? Concrete?

If you are asking about reinforcing concrete, fiberglass or fibermesh as it's called is not nearly as strong as steel rebar or mesh. It does not protect concrete from shrinkage and thermal expansion like steel. It doesn't hold cracks together as well as steel. It is harder to finish (personal experiance) and costs more.

It is best used with steel reinforcement not instead of it.

Its Modulus of Elasticity is only about one tenth that of steel which wouldn't make it much of a reinforcing for concrete.

fyi e.g. http://www.onepetro.org/mslib/servlet/onepetropreview?id=NACE-07534 (while probably not the perception, not all "fibre glass" is necessarily corrosion resistant in concrete)
