Instrument Manifold

06/12/2013 6:25 PM

Hi All,

What is the purpose of the screw on the Instrument manifold (example Rosemount 306 manifold) valve handle? I have seen a screw on one side of the handle and no screw on the other side. Why?

Thanks

Purge the atmosphere air present when the assembly is done, so the appropriate instrument air is in the line.

What does the accompanying documentation have to say on the matter?

I hope this clarifies the question a bit. This is a Rosemount 304 Manifold. What are screws on the valve handles for?

Okay... I misread your question and offered an incorrect response.

What has the manufacturers documentation have to say on this matter?

That appears to be a Rosemount 306. Is a 304 identical?

Yes it is a Rosemount 306, my bad.. I could not find anything in the manual, they may have mentioned it somewhere but so far I have not found anything on this.

304 also has this screw.

Hex Valve calls that 'screw' a 'cap screw'

Some applications might require removing the Tee handle to ensure that valve positions are not changed, which could be accomplished by removing the capscrew and the Tee handle. Otherwise, the capscrew fastens the Tee handle to the stem.

Changing out the packing requires disassembly, part of which involves removing the handle, which requires removing the capscrew.

That is just to unscrew the top from the handle shaft or to position it in a position that you might find more comfortable. Also when the manifold has to built in a box, these T-bars are in the way to pass a hole.

Procedure: remove and refit
