I am shopping around for a commercial off the shelf (COTS) driver seat alternatives for Stryker 8x8 Light Armored Vehicle. This is Phase I.
o en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stryker
If such a unique seat does not exist, Phase II might be initiated (design and manufacture).
The purpose of this survey shall be to identify seat designs that can satisfy, at a minimum, the primary characteristics detailed below, while also fulfilling as many of the "desired" secondary traits as possible:
Primary Technical Characteristics
- A two-piece seat design consisting of a separate driver seat back and base
- A bolt-on, serviceable seat back recliner mechanism
- Seat back recliner levers located on both the lateral side of the seat base and the reverse side of the driver seat back
- Compliance to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) 207 and 302
Secondary Technical Characteristics
- Molded (form-fitted) seat cushion material with a removable outer cover
- Improved recliner actuation system/non-friction gear design
- Detachable headrest
- "Towel bar" slider mechanism for horizontal adjustment
Additional Evaluation Criteria
In order to assist in the assessment of any driver seat designs satisfying the above criteria, the following information will also be gathered:
· Anticipated failure modes
· Projected Mean-Time-Between Failures (MTBF), in operating hours
· Estimated technician installation/removal effort for servicing
· Replacement costs for any serviceable components
Please fill free to forward this email to all who might be interested
