Radiography for Pipelines Carrying Water

07/03/2013 12:18 PM

I have two principal questions:

1. Is Radiography for process water pipelines required? Which standard indicates the same?

2. How is the weld length on which a radiography will be performed, measured? Is it unit-dia or anything else?

Thanks in advance.

A1) What does the end Client's piping spec say?

A2) What does the end Client's piping spec say?

Hi PWSlack,

I am preparing the piping spec on behalf of the client. Now client wants to know whether radiography for water pipelines is required or not?

You are "preparing the piping spec", but don't know what the applicable piping specs are?

Are you taking money for this?

Is your client aware of your lack of knowledge of piping specifications?

Wouldn't 'process' indicate B31.3, (in the US)? And if 'process water' indicates that the water has been in contact with the process, it probably contains some of the process chemicals.

"Amen!"

2 "Good Answers" given here. I can't believe how many silly (name-calling-withheld) persons there seems to be, sitting at their keyboards just "making stuff up", or, in a case such as this, refusing to supply necessary information (needed to supply the RIGHT kind of response).

"I am testing a tank here. What type of transducer should I use?"

"We need to weigh this thing at the northwest corner in the basement. What type scale do you revered experts recommend?"

"The XTW-PKQ60D isn't communicating well with the oh-it-doesn't-matter. How can we fix this?"
