Civil Engineering and Job Prospects:

07/16/2013 7:44 AM

No, Civil Engineering is not Lowest of the lowest engineering. It completely depends on the way you want to become a Civil Engineer. People being a Civil Engineer become Autocad Designer and design wonderful infrastructure. And if you Dessualt certified or Siemens Certified Designer then you are sitting at a huge salary package. Industry demand for such professionals from Civil Engineers is very high.

Now a days Civil Engineers are also getting into IT. If you have an experience in Particular solutions, you can develop a software or an application to simplify a particular process. So there is a demand for Civil Engineers in the IT also. For Eg:

Mulch-function sensing and imaging devices, GPS, communication and computing devices are being ubiquitously used in field by engineers in civil engineering and emergence response practice. Field engineers, however, still have difficulty to balance between ever-increasing data collection demand and capacity of real-time data processing and knowledge sharing. In addition, field engineers usually work collaboratively in a geospatially large area.

Here are some interesting Apps specifically meant for Civil Engineers and developed by Civil Engineer Consultants:

These construction management apps built for the iPhone. Excellent app for quick engineering foundation calculations with the potential to expand into a serious alternative to PC based software. Each review comes complete with the average user rating, device compatibility and OS requirements. I hope that no one can say that there is no scope of Civil Engineering. It is the Civil Engineers, who have made wonders like Burj Khalifa, Channel Tunnel and Twin Towers.

I agree. Civil engineering is having large scope. They can also enter into government sector by preparing various competitive examinations. Like GATE, ESE or state level exams. They have great opportunities in private sector too.
