Transition Floor Refractory

07/23/2013 8:27 PM

Good day.

Would appreciate if anybody could advise what happened to our transition floor refractory which we found wet/moist and found some spalling and cracks. The transition floor units have not been installed yet and is still our storage waiting for delivery advise. We also found some moisture and water dripping on some parts of the refractory. After some hammer test. we noticed a "dull" sound. Does this mean we need to repair the refractory? do we need to replace the TR bricks underneath as well? pls advise?

It sounds as though water has got under the floor. If so, then the only way forward is to lift the flooring materials and re-secure them in a waterproof manner once the substrate has dried out.
