A Handy Power- Telephone- IT - Surge Desk Top Box

08/13/2013 12:49 AM

Dear Members,

It is probably my lack of expression ability in this English language.

I am searching for a lot of boxes, nice and compact desk top, but then again more on the side of, or under (the desk top).

I need a few US 120 V outlet connectors on it, a telephone plug and one or 2 network plugs (cat... or perhaps optical) A surge protector inside is the top of the dream.

Unfortunate, I cannot get to name it, I guess. The internet links me always to Chinese products.

Who ran into the same? and how did you solve the connections in an office pool?

Thank you.D

That is about what I had in mind, it just comes with the wrong receptacles. UK instead of US. GA anyway. Thanks

Some of these I found already. Do you think they are reliable in an office environment?

I'm not quite sure of what you are looking for but based upon my best guess of what you want some search terms/words that might be helpful are:
* power strip
* outlet strip
* RJ11, RJ-11 (the telephone plug)
* RJ45, RJ-45 (the ethernet plug)
* ethernet
* surge suppressor
* NEMA 5-15 (the power plug/receptacle)
* joules (energy rating of the protection)

I don't see how optical fits into this so I could be off I my guess of what I think you want.

Thank you so much for the info.

We have to provide about 20 offices. The pool type easy to position ones. Instead of running wires in or on the floor, I thought of supplying these out of the tiled ceiling with

power from a central UPS system, internet and /or closed network (LAN/WAN) telephone and perhaps a spare outlet for future extensions.

The optical connection could be one of them. What will the future bring?

There is a basic light in the ceiling, but everyone gets or a laptop or desktop computer and a desk top lamp.

I have been dreaming of a box on a stick that can be attached to the desk without taking some real space on the desk.

At least I know what to look for now. Thanks again

This place makes power/network stations that are meant to be installed in cutouts in a desk. I found them because they make the one that is installed in the desk I bought for home. The link is to the model installed in my desk, but if you go to "products", "power supplies" you will see their full line. Looks like they will do custom too, but I think production would be in China, and minimum buy in might be high.

LINK

Just in case link has problems, the site is www.furnlite.com

(as in Furniture Light)

The one in the link also has power connections on the back.
