Curious why there is a separate "Indian Standard" IS, vs just using existing SAE or DIN. Way too much work to have a separate system, and as anyone can sit on the committee, India would have input to improvements of the standards.
This document looks like it's created work for academia. So this must be the reason for "our own" system.
Thanks for the reply and your time. I agree with your
statement in a different way. Why we need ASME, ASTM, API, AWS, EN, DIN, AD-MERKBLAT,
AFNOR, JIS, etc codes and standards? I think, this difference is made and
implemented only to make more money for companies and individuals. More
standards will increase the complexity of the processes. An engineer who is working only in American codes& standards will struggle to go through other
countries standard. To exploit this problem and make money, many so called
consultants will emerge to deliver 3 days or 4 days tailor made program. So,
why can't abolish all countries standard and accept ISO standards as global
standard for any kind of work (ie, codes and standard for pressure vessel,
materials, petroleum industry, corrosion etc…) .By accepting ISO standards as
the global standard, an Engineer from USA can work without any kind of hassle
in Europe or Japan and Japanese Engineer can work in USA or Europe without any
kind of hassle.Any thoughts?
Who is the one to determine which is the best standard?
Me suspects that the standards of his country will carry more weight in the decision for which is best and to be adopted world-wide.
Good Luck, Old Salt
