Program Route Memory

09/02/2013 9:06 AM

I am looking for programs in mac and xp that remember a set up route? A lot of times I use different software to control hardware, prior to renting the hardware, it is tested by a renting company tech where we build/set up the hardware. Now, a lot of the user manuals that come with these programs are in Chinglish, this can be somewhat confusing due the understanding and translation used by Chinese authors. What I am looking for is a program that remembers every move that the tech uses to lock into and, set up the hardware. I understand that nothing's perfect and I will probably have to do some troubleshooting but, it's a lot better than forgetting one thing the tech said and be stuck for a period of time. The way I would implement the process is, to have the tech upload the software to my laptop and use my laptop for the setup. Hey, while I am asking that question, is there also a way my laptop can video everything that is being done?

There are keystroke tracking programs. I doubt that video could track mouse picks closely enough, but I'm sure there are programs that capture the coordinates down to the pixel level. (Not that NSA or corporate types are likely to share.)

Sounds like riverrunner needs a Macro Recorder utility. Windows used to have one built in, but I've no idea if it has now.

There might be some inspiration here.

If you have done this enough times, you should be well on your way to understanding the process of testing and variables involved. I find that understanding the process is far more valuable than having someone else spoon feed you. The better your understanding of the process, the more effective you will be when you have to adapt to a new configuration. I am guessing the Tech has ahd some training and understands the system. He has no advantage over you other than that fact. If you want to be in a position to do it yourself, invest some time in understanding - you will be better off in the long run.
