How to Change Single Phase Motor to Generator

09/05/2013 8:06 AM

Hi I have an electric single phase motor, 4hp/3kw and i want to modify it into single phase generator. It is 1400 rpm as speed, it has 2 capacitors, 450VAC and 350VAC. Is it possible to change it?

Well, in order to do that, one would need to sort out where the magnetic field needed to make it generate is going to come from. Any thoughts on that?

In lieu of 20 questions:

OPERATING 60 CYCLE INDUCTION MOTORS AS GENERATORS .

You obviously did no research before coming here or your would have been presented with About 5,450,000 results (0.29 seconds)

Or to answer the OPs question directly:

Yes.

There, wasn't that good?

Did you look at any of the other sites to see if you can understand any of them?

If no, do some more research. If yes, which ones do you not understand.

We don't have any meaningful information to work with. You have all that.

Manufacturer's name?

Model # of motor?

Name plate information?

Even color of motor might give us a clue.

Why, if it's commercially sensitive information?

No doubt there will be lots of e-mails heading your way. Not ones you want though.
