Amendment II. A well regulated militia, being necessary to the
security of a free state,
the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
And then there are various versions of an Engineers'
Hippocratic Oath .. "I solemnly pledge my life to the service of
humanity. I will be loyal to the profession of engineering and its members for
the good of mankind. I will speak out against evil and unjust practice".
With the deadly gun attacks on the unarmed, both individually and in number
at schools, cinemas, schools and now even defence installations, has the time
come as engineers to question Amendment II and seek change?
