Saturation Constants for 3M FC-770 Coolant

09/18/2013 4:58 PM

I just purchased a new GE/Panametrics 880 Hygrometer to meaure moisture in the 3M Coolant, FC-770. The humidity probe requires a table of Temperature vs. Saturation Constants. No one at the vendor can explain to me what the Saturation Constants represent, what their units are, and what information I need to ask 3M to provide. To meet my moisture spec, the moisture must be less than or equal to 5 ppmw in the FC-770 Coolant.

I'm afraid that the answer to that question is above my pay grade. I would contact a Panametric/GE application engineer and request an explanation. I'm not convinced that the aluminum oxide sensor is appropriate for your application.

Normally, when measuring the water (moisture) content of any liquid other than water, one carries out what is known as a Karl Fischer titration. Look it up, save the rest of us the pain. Hydrometers are typically utilized to find the relative humidity of air. This rhymes with misapplication of technology to me.
