Foot Pump Problems

10/23/2013 5:55 AM

I have 4 X underground Tanks storing Solvents eg. Ethanol 95 and Ethyl Acetate.

Capacity's varing from 20000Ltrs to 30000 Ltrs, on each Tank.

Ethyl Acetate foot-pump is currently causing a problem and probably needs to be replaced. I basically need to replace all the foot-pumps.

Please advise

Check the compatibility between the fluid stored and the materials-of-construction [MoC] of each pump prior to placing orders, particularly in respect of non-metallic components and their ability to withstand immersion long-term.

This might help, as would a detailed telephone or face-to-face discussion with the pump vendors. Obtain some form of performance warranty or maintenance commitment as part of the deal. Bear in mind that the MoC of adjacent pumps may well be different, even if the pumps are the same general size, shape and capacity, and for maintenance, do not interchange them or keep a common single spare if circumstances dictate otherwise.

If you can't understand PWSlacks reference, ask a pump vendor to select the proper materials of construction for you.
