Everything Has Gone Dark

10/23/2013 8:03 AM

Parker CTC P11-314 DR

Any one familiar with this control?

The screen has gone blank or dark. Power light is lit. Screen is a touch screen to allow interface so the operator can change programs. The programs are linear instructions to a plc for head movement.

What I would like to know can the back light bulb be changed? As the piece of equipment still functions in the last loaded program.

Not familiar with that control. I have replaced the backlight on an LCD display, but it wasn't a touch screen. In my case the tube power supply/inverter was bad. If yours has a separate inverter, you may be able to find a suitable replacement. Parts availability may be an issue. Can't help you there if OEM parts are required.

ozzb: The equipment I work on uses Digital Pro-face LCD touchpads. Frequently these unit do fail in the same manner which you indicate. Touchpad still works and you can run the system IF you know where to press. I also had difficulty finding a tube for the device. It is obvious they want you to purchase a new unit each time.

My suggestion would be to carefully take the unit apart and identify the tube itself. It will have the manufacturer and product number on it. Then you can contact tube manufacturer direct to locate the part and price. It worked for me.

Best Regards,

You might check to see if the ribbon cable from the processor to the touch screen has come out of the connector. Vibration and shock can knock them loose
