Annealing SA517E

10/23/2013 10:21 PM

I have flame cut circles 14"x 10" x 2" thick. Which has created some pockets of hardness as I mill my pockets. I need to anneal these parts to a machinable condition. My question is . What tempatures do I set the heat treating oven to.? At what rate do I achieve that temputure.? At what rate do I cool down this part as well?

Are you sure your not hitting slag from the cutting operations? You can also goggle the question on temperatures for annealing.

The stated dimensions make them sound more like ellipses, or even rectangles.
