Sourcing Technologies for Rural Development

10/27/2013 9:38 AM

Rural Philippines is endowed with fertile Land and Sea - and with Renewable Energy resources such as Solar, Wind, SeaWave/SeaCurrent, Waterfalls/RoR, Geothermal, BioMass/BioGas. Unfortunately, Rural Philippines remain economically under-developed. Due to lack of Power (et al), Farmers and Fishermen transport (at high cost) their low-valued Commodities (Copra, Abaca, Seaweeds, Fish, etc) to the Cities for processing.

I now seek appropriate Technologies (in RE PowerGen and in Agri-Aqua Processing) which I plan to station with my Local Partners. To start with, I invite discussions for Concept Solutions &/or cost-effective Machinery Designs - i.e. Solar Driers, COPRA Crude Oil Expeller, Seaweed Processing, Abaca Pulping, etc.

I await.

I just blundered into your post while looking for solutions to a waste-disposal problem here on Mindanao. (A pulping plant that makes abaca fiber into trade pulp sheets for export to Europe is having trouble and expense disposing of the residue.) Since moving to this country in 1998, I too have been looking for solutions that bypass the lack of transportation infrastructure, either by providing alternate means of transportation (hovercraft, ropeways) or by finding ways to package processing plants so they can go where the raw materials are (pulping plants, essential oil extraction plants).
