Your Iron May Be Eavesdropping on Your WiFi Connection...

10/30/2013 10:52 AM

...and you'll never guess that it was there...

The warning about those cheapo USB chargers is also interesting!

Would it still need wifi username and password that hotels require in order to log into wifi?

Well yes, and most people know or can find out the default passwords the gear is supplied with.

You may be surprised at how many people don't change the default passwords allowing anyone in range to easily access their WiFi connection for free internet access.

lol - - not surprised but disappointed is more like it.

They wail and cry when something bad happens, but often do not take the most basic prevention steps.
( such as backing up hard drives and many other simple things ).

Then they expect IT to come make magic happen.

Some one at the NSA is kicking themselves in the butt for not thinking of it first.

Just think just about every officer of rank has a personal coffee mess. Most likely an iron for that unscheduled meeting. They more then likely already know about it. Because just about all those devices are made in China. And here we hear it from the private sector.

Well it goes good for that campaign to buy American, other then there are crooks here too.

Is there something we need to know? Anything you want to share with us?

So the NSA is watching CR4! What a compliment!

Is CR4's internet somehow outside the bounds of the NSA?

Didn't think so

I only got worried when the low cost onboard 4D chip started rating my ironing style, took up the 'energy abuse' with my green commitment agreement moderator in the electricity utility supplier and they collectively shutdown the power point. Hence I was wearing a crumpled, part ironed shirt. This is why I always iron my collars and cuffs first and cover with a coat, even in summer.

I am somewhat reminded of the simple way to determine the sex of birds ....

One more reason not to iron clothes.

Clothes ironing is such a stupid task and uses of a lot of energy. Pointless task.

It amuses me that everyone assumes this is actually true and not just a hoax.
I mean it's not hard to take a pic of a domestic appliance with some electronics hanging out of it is it?

Yeah, that would be just plain silly, anyway...

Wouldn't it? I mean, really, who really thinks that the NSA has the time and energy to go around tracking people for no good reason?

Let me show you how powerful that connected iron might be ....
select a card from the following, and I am sure I can demonstrate the power
of the (southern hemisphere) web! Tell no one. I will give the solution
in a subsequent discussion note.

OK, pick one of the cards now ... do NOT enter it on any screen.
The solution is coming. (I have to email your iron).

So I have exchanged notes with your iron ...
in a couple of situations, your soldering iron,
and I now can show you clear evidence of
the eavesdropping, such is the power of the
southern hemisphere .... check the cards below ....
and NOW the card you selected has been removed!!!

Well this simple obvious trick won't make next month's CR4 challenge question.

The trick worked at an electronic warfare paper discussing deception in Berlin, May 2011! (It was in a powerpoint at the start and end). Not sure why the first image failed with the 6 cards so had to repeat the submission here to at least explain the theory behind the trick, and yes, it needed 'time' between the showing of the 6 cards and then the 5 cards.

One day I'll pose my hen and a half laying an egg and a half in a day and a half puzzle... but that is for another time.

Fair enough. Sometimes the entire mystery of these tricks is easily blown if not presented in the correct format.

You're kidding, right? That's not a trick, it's an illusion, it has nothing to do with time or psychic powers or any other type of BS as I've seen in other of its incantations, but it does show the gullibility of most observers.

it has nothing to do with time or psychic powers

I never said it did. But for this trick or illusion to have a chance of working (and there are many different variations) the two images must not be able to be compared against each other and the first image must be shown quickly.

TV magicians have been using a variation of this illusion for years.
