If I pick up a thread say 2 to 3 years old and post a new comment - does it get displayed to all subscribers- or is there a time bar for posting comments?

It shows up to everyone who is still subscribed. (I've seen a couple oldies pop up again in the last few days.)

That's even before my time, and I never saw the original thread. It may be that no one is still subscribed to it.

I don't bother unsubscribing.

The threads just go quiet and sometimes a new comment will pop up.

I like to stay subscribed so I can refer back easily to, say, a link I once saw or found and posted, or some good advice for a new problem that I've encountered and remember it being close to something i saw discussed.

Agreed. But if I accidentally ask to see all my discussions, it takes forever to load!

The comment would show up on the thread page, but the only people who would be notified are people who are still subscribed.

Thanks for responses. If some people unsubscribe or do not keep track for various reasons- nothing can be done. It is purely personal.
