While location based services are currently dominated by smartphones, it looks like the growth industry is going to be in vehicle communication systems over the next several years. However, vehicle integration with smartphones still looks like the best way to remotely manage or control you vehicle (and probably your home), so smartphones will still heavily influence the LBS market.

No, I'm a design/development engineer. I just believe in doing my own market research too. However, in the future, I'll post these kinds of articles in a different space if there is no technical interest.

Might be a better fit in the Transportation Section, since you're a real engineer and not a marketeer.
