Testing, Charging And Monitoring A Single Cell of NIMH

11/11/2013 1:24 PM

Do you have a circuit on how can I Test, Charge and monitoring a single cell of NIMH. I have a tester and some teory about charging this type of cell, but individually not on a battery . Thank you in advance.

look at the LTC4060, LTC4010, LTC4011

at www.linear.com

They have app notes and design examples

Is this maybe homework? Then you already have your answer(s)!

If not, all I can say is that usually today, you just buy an intelligent charger that will "look after" the cell properly. They are so cheap nowadays...

no i don't have a circuit - a tester might stand for multimeter ... highly sophisticated specialized lab apparatus intended for speciffic capacity and model (e.g what time it is on earth?)

if you need to reject a black lamb from a set - you should probably charge and discharge the items - the higher internal resistance units tend to get less charge if charged as a cell-pack - t.m. your starting conditions vary by cell not meaning the low voltage items should rejected without futher testing - if you have enough of the cells in hand you can regroup similars by test result ...

you have to keep count on coulombs that enter (-thermally escaped = ) coulombs that exit (-thermally escaped) + to adequately evaluate this you need T(°C/K/e.c),U(V),Q(C),"operational age of battery"(hours?/charge discharge cycles?/el-luthe condition?) map in hand for your specific cell

the grid would vary on your budget and setup - why don't image search for "NiMH lab" or alike
