BXS Type Heat Exchanger

12/17/2013 2:30 AM

I am first time selecting the X shell due pressure drop and vibration problem but I have never designed this type of shell as per my understanding from TEMA that there is no baffle inside the X type shell so it would be axial flow only but my queries is that if we do not provide baffle then it would be vibrations in tube and on HTRI software ( 3D model) suggest a complete support plate i.e. there is would be clear division of flow .If I have used 3 inlet & 3 outlet nozzles with support plate then there would be fully support plate and flow from 1 number inlet will go out from 1 number outlet only .

Try PHEs. Though they have high pressure drop than sheel type, they still are very effective than shell type.

Morover u eleminate the additional cleaning requirement of shell type exchangers. If TEMA has nothin specified (I have not seen TEMA), try ASME SEC VIII for the same use.
