I guess it produces enough power to raise your hair when you come too close. (for the ones that still have some long enough) A "shocking" motor. High voltage supplies need some caution when used.

I might replace my car engine with one and feed it with the electrostatic voltage my car produces when pushing it. Interesting but useless to me. Categorized worse.

It's a good science demo.

The trouble is ...... to get same power per volume as we get with magnetics, fields of millions of volts/metre are needed. Breakdown voltage of atmospheric air is about 0.5 MV/m .
