Earth Leakage Monitoring

02/07/2014 1:22 AM

I was using Merlin Gerin XML 316 Earth Monitoring unit as our Transformers were Delta/Delta and no Neutral.

Now we have changed the transformer to Delta/Star. Neutral grounded with 11 ohm resistor, making the XML 316 ineffective, can any one help me find a substitute unit which can be used or any method of utilising the XML 316 unit. What is Impedence of the ZX type any details will be helpful.

Hi Patarun,

see page 5 of the manual it shows the example you are looking for. Basically you need to connect the unit across the N-E impedance.

link to manual 1519960EN-01.pdf

if this isn't what you're after then get in contact with your national Schneider office and talk to the specialist for this product.

saludos

Chas

Hi Chas

Thanks, the drawing shows for uneathed neutral, but our Transformer neutral is grounded.

Any more suggestions are welcome.

Hi Patarun,

this looks like your system. I took ZX to mean Zx i.e an undetermined impedance but it would appear that it is a specific unit from Schneider, some details of which can be seen on P11 of the manual. I suggest you do some research on this unit and if it is still not clear whether this can be used (Schneider manuals are notoriously difficult to understand) then get hold of your national Schneider office for the specialist to discuss the issue.

regards.. Chas
