Windows 8.1 Frustration

02/17/2014 3:48 PM

Just picked up this Toshiba laptop with windows 8.1, (pain in the arse) logged into my email, saw CR4 comments, selected one, logged into CR4, read comments and tried to exit back to my email....can't seem to kill the page and get back to IE, cannot find a 'logout' on CR4...so I guess my immediate solution is a coldboot and when I get home an immediate reformat and load a unix system. Are there any Ubuntu users out there?

There are many, many Ubuntu users out there.

They are outnumbered by "I hate Microsoft" users by about 1,000,000 to 1.

In order to log out of CR4 you need to click on your user name near the top right of any page. It will bring to your profile page. Near the top in the middle there should be a logout button.

I second what SavvyExacta said. The logout procedure here is not immediately obvious.

Thanks, it wasn't obvious to me. logout buried under profile...I've been using that red 'x' for the last two years.

I recently installed Window hate.

Alt F4 seems to be a good way to kill many programs.

Another crap OS?

I think it's time we stop worrying about what baseball players are doing, and drag Bill Gates up in front of congress!

You should be able (on 8.1) to go to the bottom left hand corner, and click on the Window icon and it will take you back and forth between the App page, and your desktop page.

"CTRL + ESC" will get you out of almost anything without damaging or fragmenting any files.

Also; On Win 8 placing the cursor at the top of the screen and right clicking will usually display all open pages and you can "X" out (close) the ones you do not want.

Windows 8.1 is actually different from 8.0. Windows 8.1 is a little easier to maneuver around although it's still a pain over 7.0. One can download 8.1 for free from Microsofts site, or from other sites. So if you have 8.0, I recommend downloading 8.1

Never mind ... I read somewhere that Windows 8.1 is being discontinued in 2015 and being replaced by Windows 9 which, from all accounts, is a much better system

Windows 10 is supposed to be better than windows 9, so we should just skip to that.
