Sound Generator Software

02/17/2014 8:42 PM

I can't find the thread where there was a sound generator program posted that I used, but didn't download. It generated tones and other cool things.

Now I can't find it. Help!

It had a big red button on-screen to start the generator.

It's not that difficult, I know.

Humor me.

There's the rub.

I've downloaded 3 different ones and none are "that" one.

..............................................................................

Never mind, I just remembered.

Online Tone Generator - Free, Simple and Easy to Use.

From: High Pitch Tone Coming from My Dogs Right Ear

I couldn't remember the thread.

I went shooting and did something weird to my ears.

Thanks for humoring me till I got it.

I'm going to ask the wife to listen to my ears later. Wonder how that'll go.

Probably just temporary....unless somebody discharged close to your ear, and you had no protection..

Let us know if she hears the ocean.

You might try something like this hearing test.

My partner is an ENT. One thing that might be worth doing is dropping by one of those hearing aid places (Google for your locations) and they usually can give you a free evaluation.

Just tell them that you are having a problem with one ear or something.

The issue with these home tests is that it depends on your equipment as far as how well it works. Unless you have calibrated headphones (and soundcard) you can't be sure about the results.

Thanks, I'll try that test later.

I ran the one I found last night and it looks like I'm down to 8 kHz from 10 before the weekend.

I've been meaning to go to the audiologist, this is just more incentive.

I've got a spectrum analyzer left over from my noise cancellation days, but so far, I've not taken the time to dig it out either. Too many distractions at home and I haven't made time to take all the equipment to work.

I hope the loss is temporary, but you should really have it checked out.

The evaluation shows that everyone should buy a hearing aid. And they just happen to have a sale going on now.

lyn-

Keep on googling "sound generator software" and similar phrases. That's how I found mine. Might take a while but it is out there. One I found was reached by googling something like "oscilloscope sound generator. Don't remember what I did with them but I will look on another computer.

I have a medium hearing loss in one ear, from industrial background noises, and I rather enjoy it. I can hear when I want to and tell people that I didn't hear them when I don't want to listen to them. Wife gives me a lot of bovine scadasec though about it. That is one of the times that it kicks in the most.

Good Luck, Old Salt

OS,

Thanks, but I remembered the thread after a little mental exercise.

Online Tone Generator - Free, Simple and Easy to Use. is the software and High Pitch Tone Coming from My Dogs Right Ear was the thread.

Anonymous Hero also contributed this: something like this hearing test, which tells me that I may have a hearing problem. Well, dah!

Thanks for the help.
