which is better connection weldolet or pipe to pipe branch fitting? Why?

If "better" means absolute quality, the Weldolet™ is better;
if "better" includes cost or availability considerations, either the Weldolet™ or the branch pipe may be better.

Be aware that someone will have to calculate if, and how much, reinforcement is required if the branch route is chosen.

Shazam,

You should learn to use the proper and common wording for piping intersections.

I do not understand what a "pipe to pipe branch fitting" means

There are four general types of piping intersections:

- The full or reducing TEE, constructed according to ASME B16.9 (strongest)

- The pad reinforced TEE, constructed according to piping code rules ( less strong)

- The "weldolet" or similar third-world copy of a Bonney Forge product (less strong)

- The unreinforced tee (or stub-in) ( weakest and sometimes dangerous)

For your particular case, the pad reinforced tee will always be more expensive and difficult to install than the weldolet copy. A schedule 40 weldolet will be necessary

Competent and prudent piping design is performed by experienced designers and engineers. You should have an approved piping line specification.

Hi Shyam,

Since you specified your size is 30" I would definetly recommend you to go for weldolets. For any pipe sizes more than 16" always prefer to go for weldolet. These are the following reasons.

1. No need for any RPAD calculations

2. Strength remains the same. When you go for stub-in you need RPAD to reinforce it.

3. up to 8" weldolet sizes are readily available. RPAD requirements and sizes are to be calculated

4. Easy to fabricate 30"X8" at site. For RPAD or stub in fabrication is tough at site comparatively.

5. Last but not the least, depends on the type of plant.
