What does the facility's Standards Manual say about the materials to be used for such a purpose? After all, the contents of such a document hold far greater value than the collected opinions of a bunch of Anonymous Posters Miscreants! :-o

Please confirm that the vendor has been provided with a copy of the relevant section of the facility's Standards Manual as part of the enquiry activity.

Conan.. ASME Section VIII will guide you in the design of the vessel. For the service, you should refer to NACE MR0175 as well. The SA 516 Grade 70 material you list for the shell and heads is adequate, but you should source the plate as HIC treated plate. It will be vacuum degassed and Calcium treated during melting to reduce Hydrogen induced cracking during operation. The material is readily available. Pressure vessels we furnish for H2S service are fully radiographed per UW-51 and fully post weld heat treated after all welding is complete. I hope this helps you in your design.
