AWS CWI Exam

Im fixing to take my AWS CWI exam for the first time. I have printed a pdf version of the API 1104 and have it put in a nice binder. Am I able to still use this code book during my seminar course and exam or do I need to buy the 300 dollar hard copy?

You sure you do not want to ask your instructor? If in doubt buy the hard copy as we have to assume your soft copy was not paid for by you!

I appreciate the sarcasm...really. The book was GIVEN to me. And I wanted to know if I'm able to use it on the exam. Please when you respond to people try not to be so insensitive. I asked a simple question. I didn't ask for you to be a dick.

You missed the most important point: you still have not asked your instructor!

The other part is you will never bail out of a situation when the smoking gun was "just" given to you!

Hello! Wake up! I am less a dick then a responsible person. At least I know that material that was given to me and is illegal in my hands - I would not use it!

If in doubt - ask the instructor!

Instead of API 1104 try to center around AWS D1.1. Study weld symbols and material selection.

Even my last ex. (#4 i think) was a CWI and she had a masters degree. Ran off with the lead inspector!!!!!!!

I was told that section B was the nail in the coffin so to speak. The pdf was given to me. Not real sure if it would be allowed into the class. I did call AWS and speak to a rep myself. they did say to provide a reciept or written permission of having the book given to me...but how am I supposed to do that when the person who gave it to me didnt keep a copy of the reciept. and if I give a written permission letter...wouldnt that get the person who let me have the book into trouble and have their cwi revoked? Its something that I am trying to get straight before seminar week. I still have time to get all my ducks in a row about this book situation. I just needed a solid opinion/advice.

The nice binder will be a dead giveaway. OTOH, a bunch of scorched pages lashed together with an old shoelace will attract no adverse attention.
