Can anyone please tell me where I can get a fan (cooler) for a Compaq Presario V2403NR?
A friend of mine bought this machine about 2 years ago in the US and gave it to me as a present. Some months later it started overheating. I called customer service from H. Packard, and they said I had to download a new driver (which i did, but problem remained). I called HP / Compaq in Argentina and they said they had no spare parts for this machine, because this model was never imported here.
Tired from getting sort of computer generated replies from HP's "Customer Care"
I disassembled the machine noticing that the back cover is very weak.
This caused the wings of the fan to get "sandwiched" between the motherboard and the back cover every time the Notebook was lifted; preventing it from turning.
I removed the little plastic turbine from it's axle and sand-papered it. It worked OK for some months, eventually to start failing again.
Since this problem re appeared, every time I hear some buzzing sound, I tap it on the back, and the fan starts running...but I know it will explode one day!
Well, besides comments like "get rid of it"
any other help will be appreciated!!!!
By the way: Compaq's says this machine has been "Built to last" is this a joke or what?
