Different Instruments Used at a Cement Plant

Dear all,

I am preparing for an interview for a Cement Manufacturing Company. I need to know what different instruments are most commonly used on cement plants for different purposes. It will be a great help if anyone could just state a couple of instruments, their type and where they are used. E.g pt 100 is an RTD used at rotory kiln. I will search for their working myself. e.g in this case what RTDs are.

Time clock. Used at the plant entrance.

If you know nothing about a cement plant, why would you try to get a job there.

Use Google to search for the answers. Read and learn.

Lyn. do you think your reply was of any use at all. ANY USE AT ALL??? If you don't know anything about the answer, why waste your time there. Useless answers just add up to the space that replies take on a forum making it difficult for people to find the right content. Please don't start a thread on this.

Cement plants have a few instruments: scales, belt scales, radar for silo level, rotating point level switches, thermocouple direct and transmitter temp measurement, coriolis flow meters, clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters, magmeters, gas mass flow meters (multivariables, thermal dispersion) combustion analyzer, pressure transmitters, modulating valves, actuated ball valves, pneumatic and electric actuators, solenoid valves, I/P, positioners, HART, Profibus and Modbus protocols, stand alone PID controllers, PLC control, DCS control, indicators, recorders, HMI software, CO, O2, NOx process analyzers, CEM stack monitoring) in 1st world countries and the associated sampling systems, to name a few.

I'm not sure where you find RTD's in a cement plant given that calcination runs in the range of 900 Deg C and sintering runs at about 1400-1500 Deg C; motor windings, maybe?

What about powder diffraction spectroscopy to measure ingredient impurities? I think you also forgot about contact microphones and fast fourier transform analysis to identify bearing fatigue.

you can devid the plant in sections ,mentioned below,,1-crusher 2-filter 3-kiln 4-ball mill 5-clinker 6-hydration 7-pumping 8-silo filters (bag filters with shaking )

just search and study above , every section have various instruments like VFD/PLC/synchro feed /thermo couples /temp controllers/data recording system (with graphic markers or excel based)-silo level etc

with due respect ,before knowing all above you should have proper education ...
