So someone figured out that if they took a few one way slip clutches and weights and configured them to a gearbox they could take random three axis motion and convert it into a specific single axis direction of motion?

That's all it takes to change the world now?

its a barely efficient (its NOT)way of capturing wind energy. it'll never power a house or a city, maybe a night light on s floating boat

I could see a small version of this that could be placed in a backpack to power lights, radios , etc. for emergency workers, or search and rescue personnel. It may not be efficient yet, but it's a start. Glad they are doing some research into this.

Agreed, it is cool.

I definitely see some potential.

I have a 21' fishing boat I take 70 miles offshore, typically in 2-3 foot seas. One of those permanently mounted near the bow would probably produce some usable power.

That would allow an emergency light that could be used at sea. It would shine forever.
